About the Organization

A Journey of Service, Growth, and Hope

Gopalpur Krishi Chetana (GKC) is a grassroots non-governmental organization established in 2012 in Birbhum district, West Bengal. Registered under the Society Registration Act, Government of West Bengal, GKC was founded by a group of committed young social workers dedicated to advancing sustainable rural development.

Over the past decade, GKC has expanded its interventions across multiple districts of West Bengal, working closely with rural communities to address livelihood insecurity, health challenges, gender inequality, and climate vulnerability.

Since 2012, Gopalpur Krishi Chetana (GKC) has been empowering underprivileged rural communities across West Bengal, with a special focus on forest-dwelling and marginalized populations. Rooted in community participation, we believe sustainable development happens when people become active partners in shaping their own future.

Through initiatives in climate-resilient agriculture, nutrition security, women’s empowerment, financial literacy, and public health, we address critical grassroots challenges with practical, sustainable solutions. Our participatory approach ensures community involvement at every stage—planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation—creating measurable and lasting impact.

With strong local networks and trusted partnerships, GKC continues to build resilient, self-reliant villages where opportunity, dignity, and development go hand in hand.

Vission & Mission

Our Dream, Our Direction

Vission
A Future of Equality, Growth, and Sustainability

We envision a society where children, women, and communities are empowered with equal opportunities for holistic growth, dignity, and sustainable development. A future where every individual can thrive with access to resources, knowledge, and opportunities that enable long-term well-being.

Mission
Empowering Communities, Enabling Sustainable Futures

We believe true change begins at the grassroots. Our work focuses on empowering smallholder farmers, women, and marginalized families by creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, climate-resilient farming, better health awareness, and financial independence.

Through community participation, shared learning, and local leadership, we help villages build confidence, resilience, and self-reliance. Our goal is simple — to ensure that development reaches those who need it most and continues long after the project ends.
